The Netherlands, April 18, 2016 – After raving reviews in the Dutch media, publisher HCIBS had ‘Trending Topic’ translated into English. The official launch of this management novel will be on April 19 at IMEX in Frankfurt. The first review states: ‘An informative and inspiring book that is utterly entertaining. Such a great idea to write a novel about social media, showing what works in the ‘real world’.
A book that even non-readers like to read
The novel is a cooperation between social media expert Gerrit Heijkoop and novelist Paula Vos. Heijkoop states: ‘I wanted to share my knowledge in a book that people actually like to read. In my opinion, management books are often boring. So we decided to create a world in which, instead of telling, we show how social media can work for you, and for event professionals in particular.’
NatSoRoPro: into the heart of associations
The story features the fictitious ‘National Society for Rodent Professionals’ (NatSoRoPro). Their big upcoming worldwide conference attracts a dramatic low number of registrations. Social media are the last hope of NatSoRoPro’s staff, but their managing director Victor has his doubts. Partly, he is right. During the story, he and his staff find out how to use social media in a way that helps them reach their goals. During this process, the reader gets a lot of practical information they can use in their own daily work.
Raving reviews and an award
Reviews in the Netherlands were uniquely 5-star and the book received the regional ‘ZOUT’-award in March. Heijkoop’s international network started to ask for an English translation, which lead to ‘Trending Topic – We have to do something with Social Media… #ButWhat’. The book is already available as a paperback on Amazon, in both the US and Europe. The ebook is available on all major platforms. During IMEX, the worldwide exhibition for incentive travel, meeting and events (April 19-21, 2016), the book will officially be presented to the public.
